01 — THE BRIEF

Bringing the Barns Coffee Experience to Qatar

When an established coffee brand from one market enters another, the space needs to feel authentic to its heritage while working naturally for a new audience. For Barns Coffee’s opening at Westwalk, Artisans Interiors handled the interior fit-out design, ensuring the café experience translated smoothly into the Qatar market.

Barns Coffee is a well-established coffee brand with a loyal following. Expanding into Qatar brought a specific challenge: how to bring the brand’s character into a physical space at Westwalk that would resonate with both existing customers and new local audiences. Artisans Interiors was brought in to design an interior environment that honoured the brand’s identity while meeting the expectations of a premium café destination in Doha.

This wasn’t a case of transplanting a single design template. The Westwalk location required an interior fit-out approach that considered local preferences, site conditions, and how customers interact with the space. Our role was to understand what makes Barns Coffee distinctive — its visual identity, customer flow, brand atmosphere — and translate that into design decisions that work for a Qatari audience, in close collaboration with the Barns team.

02 — EXECUTION

Interior Fit-Out & Execution

The interior fit-out design covered the full customer and operational experience — sightlines, the journey customers take when they enter, how the counter presents the product, seating comfort and variety, lighting that sets the right mood, and finishes that communicate quality.

One consistent point of client feedback was satisfaction with the level of detailing. In hospitality design, the difference between adequate and exceptional often comes down to details — how edges meet, material transitions, the precision of installations, and the consistency of design intent through execution. For Barns Coffee, that attention shows throughout the finished space.

“One consistent point of client feedback was satisfaction with the level of detailing.”

03 — BRAND IDENTITY

Working Within an Established Brand Identity

A café for an established brand isn’t a blank canvas — there are existing visual codes, customer expectations, and brand standards to respect. At the same time, a new market calls for thoughtful adaptation. The challenge was maintaining Barns Coffee’s identity while making sure the space felt right for Westwalk and for Qatari customers.

This meant balancing what’s non-negotiable about the brand with what’s flexible based on local context — a conversation that plays out in proportion, colour, material choices, and spatial hierarchy, not in compromises that dilute either the brand or its local relevance.

04 — DETAILING

Details That Matter in an F&B Environment

Café interiors are working spaces. The design has to support staff efficiency, customer comfort, and the brand experience simultaneously — surfaces that are practical and durable, lighting that works for reading, conversation and product display, seating comfortable enough that customers linger without hurting turnover, and acoustics that let people hear each other.

The detailing that impressed the client reflects this reality: not decoration for its own sake, but design that works functionally while looking intentional and polished.

05 — THE SPACE

The Westwalk Café Experience

The finished Barns Coffee interior at Westwalk delivers a café environment that feels familiar to the brand’s existing customers while being accessible and inviting to new ones. The space works operationally for the Barns team and creates an experience customers want to return to — the outcome of interior fit-out design that respects both the client’s brand and the local market.
